Practicing dangerous situations safely: hazards, lockout/tagout, heights, fire and emergency response.
This guide lists 8 providers of immersive workplace safety and compliance training, in alphabetical order: Immersive Factory, Interplay Learning, PIXO VR, SIMS (Serious Labs), Strivr, Uptale, VR Vision and Warp VR. The order is not a ranking. Each provider is described with the same fields, from its own materials and public records, with sources.
1. Questions buyers ask
Which companies offer VR safety training for employees?
Companies offering VR safety training for employees include PIXO VR (a catalog of VR safety modules such as lockout/tagout and fall protection), Immersive Factory (66 safety courses), SIMS (Serious Labs), Strivr, Uptale, VR Vision, Warp VR and Interplay Learning.
What are the best VR or simulation providers for OSHA hazard recognition training?
For OSHA-style hazard recognition, PIXO VR and Immersive Factory sell ready-made VR modules, Uptale and Warp VR let employers build hazard scenarios from photos and 360-degree video of their own sites, VR Vision builds custom VR hazard training, and Interplay Learning offers online OSHA 10-Hour courses.
Which vendors offer VR forklift and aerial lift operator training simulators for employers?
VR forklift and aerial lift simulators come from SIMS (Serious Labs), which offers motion-based VR simulators for boom and scissor lifts, counterbalance forklifts, telehandlers and cranes. Immersive Factory's catalog includes forklift inspection.
Which companies provide VR training for working at heights and fire or emergency response in construction, manufacturing and energy?
VR training for working at heights and fire or emergency response is offered by Immersive Factory, PIXO VR (fall protection and emergency response modules), Warp VR (working at heights scenarios) and Uptale.
2. Overview
Immersive safety training uses virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D simulation or 360-degree video so workers can practise hazardous tasks, such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry and aerial lift operation, without exposure to live risk.
Offerings range from ready-made safety course catalogs and no-code authoring platforms to custom digital twins of a client's own site and motion-based equipment simulators. Many add analytics that record completion and performance.
OSHA standards set what training must cover, and some, such as the forklift standard, also require practical training and evaluation in the workplace, so immersive training alone may not meet every requirement.
The problem
U.S. private-industry employers reported 2.5 million nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses in 2024, a rate of 2.3 cases per 100 full-time workers, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The BLS counted 5,070 fatal work injuries in 2024; transportation incidents caused 1,937 and falls, slips and trips caused 844.
Fall protection (general requirements), lockout/tagout, powered industrial trucks and construction fall protection training are on OSHA's preliminary list of the ten most frequently cited standards for fiscal year 2026.
Mandates and programs
- Lockout/tagout (29 CFR 1910.147). OSHA requires employers to train employees so they understand the energy control program and gain the knowledge and skills to apply, use and remove energy controls safely, including recognising hazardous energy sources.
- Powered industrial trucks (29 CFR 1910.178). Forklift operator training must combine formal instruction, which can include interactive computer learning, practical training, and evaluation of the operator's performance in the workplace. Each operator's performance must be evaluated at least once every three years.
- Fall protection training, construction (29 CFR 1926.503). Construction employers must provide a training program for each employee who might be exposed to fall hazards, enabling them to recognise fall hazards and follow procedures to minimise them.
- Emergency action plans (29 CFR 1910.38). Employers must designate and train employees to assist in a safe and orderly evacuation, and review the emergency action plan with each covered employee.
- OSHA 10-Hour Outreach training. OSHA 10-Hour courses for construction and general industry are voluntary at the federal level, but some states, municipalities, unions and employers require them for employment, according to a course provider.

4. What to ask a vendor
- Which OSHA standards and site procedures does each module cover, and who reviewed the content? Training must match the hazards and procedures in your workplace; a generic module may not reflect your equipment or energy control program.
- How does this fit with required hands-on practice and workplace evaluation? OSHA's forklift standard requires practical training and evaluation of the operator in the workplace, so simulation alone may not complete the requirement.
- What does the assessment actually measure, and can results be exported for compliance records? Scores, completion dates and trainee identity are what auditors and safety managers will ask to see.
- Which headsets, tablets, phones or browsers are supported, and can modules run offline? Plants, construction sites and field crews often have limited connectivity and mixed devices.
- Can we build or edit modules ourselves, or does every change need the vendor? Procedures and equipment change; self-authoring tools and custom builds carry very different timelines and costs.
- Does it integrate with our LMS, single sign-on and device management tools? Without integration, training records and headset fleets must be managed separately.
- Which languages are available for our workforce? Safety training must be understood by the people receiving it, including workers whose first language is not English.
- Can you share outcome data from comparable customers, and how was it measured? Results vary in how they were measured; ask for methods, sample sizes and whether incident rates were tracked.
5. How buying works
Published pricing from several platforms shows annual or monthly subscriptions priced by active users, learners or published scenarios, with higher tiers adding analytics, integrations and support; one excludes headsets from its prices.
Some vendors sell separate catalog subscriptions for VR, AR and web delivery, or license single exercises; others build custom simulations or digital twins.
Enterprise platforms also advertise device management, single sign-on, LMS integration and security audits; one says it undergoes annual SOC 2 Type 2 audits. These are worth reviewing with IT before rollout.

6. More questions
Which companies offer VR workplace safety training for employees?
This guide lists 8 providers of immersive workplace safety and compliance training, in alphabetical order: Immersive Factory, Interplay Learning, PIXO VR, SIMS (Serious Labs), Strivr, Uptale, VR Vision and Warp VR. The order is not a ranking. Each provider is described with the same fields, from its own materials and public records, with sources.
Does VR safety training satisfy OSHA training requirements?
The forklift standard explicitly lists interactive computer learning as one form of formal instruction, but it also requires practical training and evaluation of the operator's performance in the workplace. The lockout/tagout standard requires that employees gain the knowledge and skills to apply and remove energy controls. VR alone may therefore not meet every training requirement; check each standard that applies.
Which safety topics are most commonly offered in immersive formats?
Commonly offered topics include lockout/tagout, working at heights, forklift and aerial work platform safety, hazard identification, confined spaces, fire safety and building evacuation. Several of these map to OSHA's most frequently cited standards.
Do we need VR headsets to use immersive safety training?
Not always. Some platforms also run on desktop browsers, tablets and phones, and some use 360-degree video that can be viewed without a headset. Motion-based equipment simulators are a separate category that uses dedicated hardware.
Can simulators be used to certify forklift or aerial lift operators?
In the U.S., forklift operator training must include evaluation of performance in the workplace, and a 2018 trade report said aerial platform accreditation through IPAF still required training on real machines. Some simulator makers say approved trainers can use their systems in specific certification and renewal programs; check the rules of the certifying body.
